₱15M road project to ease travel in Barangay Assumption

Koronadal City – A ₱15 million road concreting project is underway in Barangay Assumption, set to ease travel and enhance economic prospects for over 3,000 residents.

The Provincial Government of South Cotabato is funding the project through its 20% Local Development Fund. Crews began work in June and aim to complete it by November, according to Provincial Engineer Lloyd Esparagosa.

“We started the project in June with the goal of completing it earlier than planned,” Esparagosa shared in an interview.

For years, Barangay Assumption has faced the burden of poor road access. With only one route available, residents continue to grapple with the challenges of mobility that affect their daily lives and livelihood.

“This is the only road leading to Barangay Assumption, and residents have no alternative way in or out,” Esparagosa explained.

The road improvement, once completed, will significantly reduce the daily commute time for students and workers, allowing them more time for school, work, and family.

In addition to reducing travel time, the project is designed to stimulate local economic growth.

Barangay Assumption, a hub of agricultural production, will benefit from faster and more reliable transport of farm goods to the city proper, he said.

“This road is vital, especially from Barangay Assumption going to Mambucal, since it serves as the main passageway for agricultural products bound for Koronadal,” Esparagosa emphasized.

Residents see the project not merely as road construction but as a pathway to opportunity.

Safer travel, stronger market connections, and wider access to progress are now within reach, as the community awaits the completion of a more connected Barangay Assumption, Esparagosa said.
