South Cotabato, Philippines | December 15, 2025 —- The Provincial Government of South Cotabato has implemented a water system project that significantly improves access to potable water for residents of Purok Waling-Waling, Barangay Lamian Banwa, in the municipality of Surallah.
The project, with a total cost of ₱3,592,031.40, was funded and executed by the Office of the Provincial Engineer–South Cotabato as part of the province’s ongoing efforts to meet the basic needs of its communities.
Upon completion, the water system is expected to ease the long-standing burden of residents who previously had to fetch water from distant sources, as it now provides a reliable and sustainable water supply to one purok in the barangay.
Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr. emphasized that ensuring access to basic services remains a top priority for the provincial government, noting that clean and sufficient water is one of the most essential needs of the people for daily living and overall well-being.
Water system construction projects were recommended through the Convergence Approach for Transformation for Change–Unification Program, a unit under the Office of the Governor, as part of the Provincial Government of South Cotabato’s continuing efforts to empower geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDA) and far-flung sitios in the province.
“The initiative aims to address long-standing issues on access to safe and reliable water by bringing basic services closer to underserved communities, thereby improving public health, supporting livelihood activities, and enhancing the overall quality of life of residents in remote areas of South Cotabato,” Engr. Loyd Esparagosa added.
