KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato — A total of 127 cooperatives in the province have been confirmed compliant and newly registered as of October 15, 2025, according to the data from the Provincial Cooperative Development Office (PCDO).
Jurich Basan, Cooperative Development Officer II, showed 109 cooperatives have maintained their compliance status, while 18 are newly registered, indicating continuous progress in South Cotabato’s cooperative movement.
“The provincial government provides technical assistance to help cooperatives become legally recognized and officially registered, enabling them to access support, programs, and financial aid more easily,” Basan said.
He also emphasized the importance of a registered cooperative for it can help and benefit the community by generating job opportunities and income, especially in areas where economic activities and livelihood support are limited.
Through the PCDO, the province continues to extend capacity-building support, legal guidance, and organizational assistance to enable cooperatives to comply with requirements and become eligible for government-funded opportunities such as grants, livelihood support, and financial interventions.
With a growing number of legally recognized cooperatives, South Cotabato continues to advance its vision of a people-centered, inclusive, and locally empowered economy
