South Cotabato, Philippines — A total of 140 college students are set to attend the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) orientation on February 14, 2026, at the Mall of Ace Centerpoint, in preparation for their upcoming short-term employment.
The orientation will be facilitated by the Public Employment Service Unit (PESU) to brief the beneficiaries on program guidelines, duties, work ethics, and expectations before the start of their deployment.
According to PESU Officer Flora C. Gallego, the SPES program aims to assist financially challenged but deserving youth by providing temporary employment opportunities.
“SPES Program is a short-term employment program given to students, out-of-school youth, and beneficiaries of displaced or about-to-be displaced workers who are poor but deserving,” Gallego said.
She added that the program not only offers financial assistance but also prepares the youth for future employment.
“It provides opportunity for the beneficiaries to finish their education, gain and enhance their capabilities, and expose them to the real world of work,” she explained.
The 140 college beneficiaries are scheduled to begin their duties on March 10, 2026, and will complete their assignments on May 19, 2026, under various offices and partner institutions.
The SPES initiative continues to serve as one of the government’s key programs to support students, promote youth employment, and help families cope with educational expenses while developing a skilled and work-ready workforce.
