1st Batch of SPES Beneficiaries concludes their summer employment program with advocacy campaign

South Cotabato, Philippines — Beneficiaries of the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) gathered at the Barangay Zone III Gymnasium for the program’s Culmination Activity and Advocacy Campaign, marking the successful completion of their summer employment journey.

The activity highlighted the accomplishments of the student-beneficiaries while providing them with valuable knowledge through the Orientation Proper, a key component of the event aimed at promoting youth development and awareness.

According to Flora G. Montoya, PESU Officer, the SPES program goes beyond temporary employment by helping students gain practical experience, develop life skills, and become more responsible members of their communities.

“Through the SPES program, we aim to empower our youth not only by providing employment opportunities but also by equipping them with knowledge and values that will help them succeed in life. We hope that the lessons shared during the advocacy campaign will guide them as they pursue their goals and contribute positively to society,” Montoya said.

Jemima S. Sodusta delivered a session on Harnessing Adolescents with Life Skills, encouraging participants to develop resilience, leadership, and positive values as they prepare for their future.

Meanwhile, Sam Cyrus G. Bayog tackled Republic Act No. 11313 or the Safe Spaces Act (Bawal Bastos Law), highlighting the right of every individual to a safe environment free from harassment and gender-based violence.

Resource speakers shared important discussions on issues affecting today’s youth. Rachel H. Lopez discussed the Threats and Risks for Adolescents, emphasizing the importance of informed decision-making and personal safety.

The event concluded with the distribution of certificates, recognizing the students’ participation and contributions throughout the program.

The culmination activity reflects the Provincial Government of South Cotabato’s continuing commitment to empowering young people through employment, education, and personal development initiatives.
