POLOMOLOK, SOUTH COTABATO- The Department of Education Division of South Cotabato headed by Schools Division Superintendent Isagani S. Dela Cruz, CESO V spearheads the 2019 South Cotabato Athletic Association Meet with the theme: “Shaping the Future through Sports” held at Polomolok Central Elementary School.
Earlier this week, the said event formally started with an opening ceremony attended by the local chief executives of the different municipalities, provincial officials, teachers, coaches, athletes and parents.
The Provincial Meet which will run from October 6-11, 2019 was also graced by DepEd 12 regional director Dr. Allan G. Farnazo, CESO IV.
Qualified athletes both from public and private schools from the province’s ten towns will compete for the whole duration of the sports event.
Winning athletes will represent the province to the upcoming regional meet.
Superintendent Dela Cruz in his message on the opening ceremony said, “Ang champion po ay kagaya ng sinasabi ng karamihan, na pinaghihirapan po ito. Hindi po ito binibigay sa atin”.
DepEd 12 Regional Director Dr. Allan G. Farnazo, CESO IV also inspired athletes to simply embrace sports as a way of life.
“One sport for every child, and do not embrace sport just for competition, embrace sport as a way of life. So that even as we grow in age, we are still a sportsman because there is the most love sports by all of us.” RD Farnazo said.
He also added that this avenue will showcase and promote camaraderie, sportsmanship, and discipline among athletes.
The Provincial Meet is a prelude to the conduct of the SOCSKSARGEN Regional Athletic Association meet which will be held in General Santos City on February 2020.
South Cotabato aims to snatch the championship from Gensan after winning for four consecutive years in the SRAA Meet.
