Koronadal City, South Cotabato, Philippines | August 27, 2025—Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) across South Cotabato have joyfully received their quarterly honorarium payments amounting to ₱2,100, or ₱700 per month. The distribution, carried out over four days last week, underscores the local government’s dedication to supporting frontline health workers in promoting nutrition and wellness in their communities.
Angela Frugalidad, Community Affairs Officer IV, stated that the distribution began last week. The Provincial Government of South Cotabato has released more than ₱667,600 in honoraria for BNS as part of their second-quarter allocation this year.
“May tatlo na lang kami nga banwa nga wala natagaan sang ila nga Honorarium para sa mga Barangay Nutrition Scholars, “Community Affairs Officer stated. The team is set to visit the towns of Tupi, Polomolok and Tboli.
The Provincial Government completed a four-day distribution of honoraria for Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) across South Cotabato. From Lake Sebu, Surallah, and Banga on Day 1; Tantangan and Sto. Niño on Day 2; and Koronadal City with 56 scholars on Day 3–the initiative highlighted the government’s support for grassroots nutrition workers. Recipients expressed gratitude, while local officials emphasized the vital role of BNS in strengthening community health and nutrition programs.
At present, a total of 317 BNS across South Cotabato are set to benefit from this financial support.
Frugalidad emphasized that the distribution not only provides monetary assistance but also recognizes the crucial role of BNS in strengthening nutrition programs at the grassroots level.
“This quarterly honorarium program is part of Gov. Tamayo administration’s strong push to empower Barangay Nutrition Scholars as frontline agents of community healt,” Frugalidad stressed.
Through consistent support, South Cotabato strengthens its grassroots health services and promotes better nutrition for all its citizens.
