40 donors join province-wide bloodletting at South Cotabato Provincial Hospital

Konadal City, South Cotabato, Philippines | February 22, 2026—- A total of 40 individuals successfully donated blood during the recent bloodletting activity conducted at the South Cotabato Provincial Hospital, strengthening the province’s blood supply and supporting patients in need of lifesaving transfusions.

The activity forms part of the province-wide bloodletting program aimed at maintaining an adequate and safe blood supply for emergencies, surgeries, maternal care, and other medical conditions requiring immediate transfusion support.

Emy Santillan, Medical Technologist of the South Cotabato Blood Bank, highlighted the importance of sustained blood donation efforts.

“Blood is a lifesaving resource that cannot be manufactured. Every donation can save up to three lives, especially in emergency situations and critical medical cases,” Santillan said.

She explained that regular bloodletting activities help prevent shortages and ensure readiness during disasters and peak demand periods.

“Through our province-wide bloodletting program, we are building a stable and reliable blood supply. We encourage healthy and eligible individuals to become regular donors because one simple act of donating blood can make a life-saving difference,” she added.

The South Cotabato Provincial Hospital expressed gratitude to all volunteers who participated in the activity, noting that community support plays a vital role in sustaining healthcare services across the province.

“The activity at the South Cotabato Gymnasium is requested by the Office of the Provincial Governor,” Santillan said.

She added that the regional recognition of the program reflects the dedication of volunteers and the strong support of provincial leadership.

“This award affirms that our province-wide bloodletting program is effective and well-coordinated. It motivates us to sustain and even expand our efforts so that no patient will suffer due to lack of blood supply,” she noted.

The Provincial Hospital released a schedule of bloodletting activity in numerous areas in South Cotabato.
