KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato — There are 41 emergency responders participated in the capability-building activity, which included lectures, practical exercises, and simulation drills designed to improve coordination, patient handling, ambulance operations, and response during large-scale emergencies and mass casualty incidents.
The Office of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (OPDRRMO) of South Cotabato, in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross, continues to strengthen the province’s disaster preparedness and emergency response capabilities through a comprehensive Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Basic Ambulance Operations Training conducted for emergency responders from various local government units across the province.
OPDRRMO Chief Rolly Doane Cuenca Aquino emphasized the importance of continuous training and preparedness among responders, noting that emergency situations demand competence, discipline, and quick decision-making
“Trainings and simulation exercises like these are vital in preparing our responders for real-life emergencies. Every second matters during rescue operations, and proper coordination and patient handling can save lives. Through continuous capability-building, we ensure that our responders remain ready, skilled, and equipped to serve our communities effectively,” Aquino said.
As part of the training, participants also took part in a Mass Casualty Simulation Exercise held recently along the National Highway in Barangay Morales, City of Koronadal.
The simulation provided responders with realistic emergency scenarios aimed at enhancing their ability to perform life-saving operations under pressure and ensuring faster, safer, and more efficient emergency response.
The Provincial Government of South Cotabato, under the leadership of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., continues to invest in programs that enhance disaster preparedness and strengthen emergency response systems across the province.
Governor Tamayo reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to supporting emergency responders and improving public safety services for all South Cotabateños.
“The safety and welfare of our people remain a top priority of our administration. By continuously investing in training, equipment, and preparedness programs, we are strengthening our capacity to respond effectively to emergencies and protect communities throughout South Cotabato,” Tamayo stated.
Through sustained initiatives and inter-agency collaboration, the provincial government aims to build a more resilient South Cotabato with highly trained responders capable of delivering efficient and life-saving emergency services during disasters and critical incidents.
