The Kabugwason sa Paglaum Scholarship and Grant-In-Aid Program (KPSGIAP) continues to produce success stories, as six of its former grantees recently passed the September 2025 Social Worker Licensure Examination.
One of the scholars, Christian M. Hospital, RSW, shared that a huge part of his achievement can be credited to Kabugwason’s support.
“Whatever I have right now or where I am today—a huge part of it is because of Kabugwason. For some students who are struggling financially, it often leads them to stop pursuing their dreams. But Kabugwason prevented me from falling into that situation. It was not only financial support—it was also a motivator that pushed me to achieve my goals, especially in education. Many wish to study in college, but only a few are given the opportunity. Kabugwason gave me that chance,” he said.
As a scholar, Christian emphasized the values and lessons he gained from the program, which he will carry into his professional career.
“It has been innate with us Kabugwason scholars to uphold humility and gratitude. One of the most important lessons I learned is how to give back to the community in simple ways. Through the Maghinatagay Project, we were taught that it’s not only about receiving but also about sharing. It trained us to always look back to where we came from and extend help to others,” he shared.
Now a registered social worker, Christian envisions himself as an instrument to further the program’s mission.
“I see myself as a beacon of hope and light to the marginalized sector of this province. In that way, I am also contributing to the goals of Kabugwason. The hope and light that Kabugwason gave me became my strength in reaching the success I have today,” he said.
Christian also expressed his heartfelt message of gratitude to the Provincial Government of South Cotabato, headed by Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., and to the dedicated leaders behind the program.
“Because of you, another South Cotabateño child was given the opportunity to graduate and fulfill his dreams. I hope this program will continue for the succeeding generations. Kabugwason is one of the most effective and sustainable strategies to combat poverty. I promise to continue soaring high and uphold the values of being a scholar.”
KPSGIAP stands as a symbol of hope for thousands of young South Cotabateños, proving that education remains the most powerful tool in breaking the cycle of poverty.
