South Cotabato, Philippines – Seventy patients across South Cotabato received free medical transportation in September, according to a report released by the Office of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (OPDRRMO).
“All services are completely free, this includes the driver, fuel, and even the staff accompanying the patient,” said Rolly Doane Aquino, PDRRMO chief.
“It’s part of the governor’s commitment to deliver ‘Tama at Maayos na Serbisyo’ to the people,” he stressed.
The program covers not only hospital drop-offs and pickups but also inter-provincial travel, offering a lifeline to patients who require treatment beyond South Cotabato.
Now operating 24/7, the transport vehicles are fully equipped and staffed to assist patients in both emergency and non-emergency situations.
Aquino emphasized that the initiative is designed to lessen the financial burden on residents during times of medical need, especially those from far-flung areas.
“The patient transport program is one of the key social support services under Governor Tamayo’s administration, which continues to prioritize healthcare accessibility, especially for low-income families,” he emphasized.
OPDRRMO encouraged residents, who wish to avail themselves of the service, that they can contact the PDRRMO Operation Center at any time of the day.

The patient transport service aims to ensure that no resident is left without access to medical care due to a lack of transportation.
