KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato – Nine (9) contingents from different schools in South Cotabato will showcase their talent, creativity, and cultural pride in the T’nalak Festival Streetdancing Competition and Grand Showdown on July 18, a major highlight of the province’s 60th Foundation Anniversary and 27th T’nalak Festival celebration.
According to Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer and Committee Chairperson Sonia L. Bautista, the competition will be divided into three categories: Madal Be’lan, Kadsagayan a Lalan, and Kasadyahan sa Kapatagan.
“Our committee conducts regular monitoring of the different contingents during their practice sessions. We also provide seed money to help defray their expenses,” Bautista said.
Competing in the Madal Be’lan category are Saravia National High School, Landan National High School, and Sta. Cruz Mission School Incorporated.
Representing the Kadsagayan a Lalan category are Bacongco National High School, Bukay Pait National High School, and Panay National High School.
Meanwhile, Norala National High School and Tboli National High School will compete in the Kasadyahan sa Kapatagan category.
The champions in the Madal Be’lan and Kadsagayan a Lalan categories will each receive ₱350,000 in cash prizes, while the champion in the Kasadyahan sa Kapatagan category will take home ₱300,000.
Special awards will also be presented for Best in Street Parade and Best in Music, with each recipient receiving a ₱50,000 cash prize.
The Streetdancing Competition aims to celebrate and showcase the rich cultural heritage, vibrant traditions, and unity of South Cotabato’s Indigenous Peoples, Muslim, and Christian communities. Through colorful performances and artistic presentations, the event highlights the province’s cultural diversity and reinforces the spirit of harmony and solidarity that defines the T’nalak Festival.
