After almost 5 decades…South Cotabato Capitol undergoes transformation

City of Koronadal – After almost 5 decades, the Executive Building located inside the South Cotabato Provincial Capitol along Alunan Avenue, this city, undergoes “face-lifting” particularly in the exterior of the building and employing the latest in building construction technology dubbed “metal cladding.”

According to a contractor interviewed by this writer, metal cladding is now the latest in building construction used by engineers to refurbished office buildings to give a “new look” in its façade or exterior.

The South Cotabato Sports Complex façade improvement funded by 2nd District Congressman Ferdinand Hernandez also located along Alunan Avenue, is an example of such technology.

Aluminum, a lightweight metal, is the material used in cladding and comes in different colors.

To protect it during the construction phase, the colored aluminum metal is covered with a ‘protector” after installation and will only be peeled off upon completion of the project.

The refurbishing and improvement of Provincial Capitol Building with Architectural Lighting which is the specific name of the project has a project cost of P4,877,500.39.

Cladding works and installation alone costs more than P1.7 million.

KGD Builders of Koronadal City is the contractor of the project.

Senior employees of the provincial government disclosed that the Executive Building as far as they can remember, is one of the first, or if not, the first office building erected inside the capitol compound.
