South Cotabato, Philippines — Seventeen community-based organizations and several persons with disabilities (PWD) associations across three (3) areas in South Cotabato benefited from the ANGAT Employable Livelihood Skills Training and capital seed assistance under the Alalay sa Negosyo, Ginhawa at Trabaho (ANGAT) Program.
Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Sonia P. Bautista emphasized that the program goes beyond financial aid.
“We believe that true progress comes from equipping our beneficiaries not only with resources but also with the right mindset and skills. Through the ANGAT Program, we are helping individuals become more self-reliant and proactive in improving their lives,” Bautista said.
Out of the 17 associations, 13 groups received P100, 000 livelihood assistance, and four PWD groups received a total of P330, 000.
The activities were conducted in three (3) key locations: Brgy. Tubi-ala in Surallah, Brgy. Kipalbig in Tampakan, and the HR Training Hall at the Provincial Capitol Compound in Koronadal City, expanding the program’s reach to multiple communities.
Among the beneficiaries were at least six (6) organized groups, including the Narra Farmers Association, Kipalbig Women’s Association, Integrated Helping Family Organization (IHFO), Empowered Persons with Disability Workers Association, ROARF, and several PWD associations from Tampakan and Tupi.
Prior to the release of capital seed assistance, all participating groups completed a series of preparatory trainings focused on skills development, financial literacy, and values formation. These sessions were designed to ensure that beneficiaries are equipped to manage their livelihood projects effectively and sustainably.
She also underscored the importance of collective responsibility among members:
“This initiative encourages unity and accountability within associations. When members work together and take ownership of the assistance given to them, the impact becomes more meaningful and long-lasting,” she added.
The program continues to promote inclusive development by ensuring that vulnerable sectors, particularly persons with disabilities, are actively involved and supported in livelihood opportunities.
“Our goal is to leave no one behind. By providing inclusive livelihood opportunities, we are opening doors for every sector to contribute to and benefit from local development,” Bautista emphasized.
Through expanded training coverage and targeted capital support, the ANGAT Program reinforces the Provincial Government’s commitment to building resilient communities and sustainable livelihoods across South Cotabato.
