After winning the province’s Junior Search and Rescue Olympics last July, Banga’s Junior Search and Rescue Team is now serving their town as rescue volunteers, augmenting their existing disaster and response team.
Banga Municipal Disaster Officer Dionito Otic, in an interview said, the junior team have assisted four vehicular accidents in Banga since they started their duty as volunteers. The Junior SAR reports from seven until ten in the evening with their parents’ consent, Otic said.
The students are not prohibited from assisting any kind of disaster or accident incidents nor are forced to provide their assistance if they chose not to, he added.
Meanwhile,Otic said they are planning to train the junior SAR for accreditation later this year and are proposing a budget for the team’s honorarium next year.
