BANGA, SOUTH COTABATO — Residents and motorists in Banga are set to enjoy safer and more convenient travel as the provincial government’s ₱15.9-million upgrading of the Junction National Highway–Liwanay–Kusan Road (Phase II) nears completion.
With a project cost of ₱15,990,418.72, the road upgrading project is now at the pre-final inspection stage, reflecting the provincial government’s efforts to ensure that infrastructure projects meet the required standards for quality, safety, and durability before their completion.
For resident-beneficiary Jude Fernandez, a public school teacher, the improved road condition has provided relief to residents who regularly use the route, particularly those who depend on it for their daily commute.
“Dako gid nga relief para sa amon nga mga residente, labi na gid sa amon adlaw-adlaw nga pag-commute. Mas nami na ang kondisyon sang dalan kumpara sang una, gani mas hapos kag mas komportable na ang amon pagbiyahe,” Fernandez said.
Beyond providing safer and more convenient transportation, improved road infrastructure also helps strengthen connectivity among barangays in South Cotabato.
Better roads facilitate the movement of people, agricultural products, goods, and services, while helping communities gain easier access to markets, schools, health facilities, government services, and other economic opportunities.
Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. emphasized that road development remains an important component of the provincial government’s efforts to bring progress closer to communities.
“We want our road infrastructure to connect our barangays and communities, because development becomes more meaningful when people can move safely and conveniently and when our farmers and businesses can bring their products to the market,” Tamayo said.
The provincial government continues to invest in road infrastructure as part of its broader development agenda, recognizing that reliable transportation networks can help stimulate local economic activity and create better opportunities for residents, particularly those in rural and agricultural communities.
Tamayo also underscored his vision of completing the concreting of all provincial roads before the end of his term, ensuring that communities across South Cotabato have safer, more reliable, and durable road connections.
The junction-national highway Liwanay–Kusan Road (Phase II) project forms part of these continuing infrastructure initiatives, with its completion expected to provide lasting benefits to residents and motorists while further strengthening connectivity in Banga and neighboring communities.
