South Cotabato, Philippines | August 14, 2025 – The Barangay Affairs Unit (BAU) under the Office of the Provincial Governor reaffirmed its commitment to assisting local communities, ensuring that barangays, puroks, sitios, and even non-government organizations have a reliable partner in addressing their needs or any development in the area.
According to Dennis C. Dignadice, the Barangay Affairs Chief, the role is not only to support barangays but also to extend aid to rural sectors such as RST organizations, provincial family health navigators, and other groups seeking assistance from the provincial government.
This comprehensive approach allows the Barangay Affairs Unit to address both community development and social welfare needs.
“Since July, we have been conducting orientations and reorientations for newly assigned provincial family health navigators, along with contract signings in coordination with IPHO personnel. We are also mandated to strengthen RST organizations by holding reorientations to help them fully understand their purpose, and by processing their annual contracts,” Dignadice said.
From July to August 2025, the unit has been actively engaging with local leaders and organizations. They helped members fully understand their purpose and role, and formalized their annual contracts.
“Most of the requests we receive from barangays are for infrastructure support, particularly the maintenance of barangay roads and the provision of construction materials,” the Barangay Affairs Chief added.
Through its focus on both social and infrastructure needs, the BAU—under the leadership of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr.—remains a vital link between the provincial government and the rural, sitio, and purok communities, ensuring that development programs and services reach even the most remote areas of South Cotabato.
