South Cotabato, Philippines – Christine Apolonio, a Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) from Barangay Sulit, Polomolok, has found hope and stability in her role despite facing personal and financial struggles.
A single mother of two, Apolonio once considered leaving her job in search of better opportunities, especially during a difficult period in her life marked by family problems and financial hardship. However, the honorarium she received from the provincial, municipal, and barangay governments proved to be a lifeline. It not only helped her sustain her family’s daily needs but also enabled her to complete her studies.
“The Lord has provided grace in my most challenging moments,” Apolonio shared. “My job as a BNS became the solution to my problems.”
Her dedication to her work grew stronger over time. With her earnings, she was even able to purchase a laptop to aid her in her daily tasks. Now that she has found stability, she admits that quitting her role as a BNS has become difficult.
“I am happy and content with what I do,” she said, expressing gratitude for the opportunities and support she has received.
Apolonio’s commitment and perseverance have earned her recognition. She is now representing the town of Polomolok in the search for the Most Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar at the provincial level.
