SOUTH COTABATO, Philippines — All barangays across the province of South Cotabato are set to receive financial assistance amounting to ₱200,000 each from the National Government, a move aimed at strengthening grassroots development and improving local access to essential services.
Governor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. confirmed that the fund will be allocated to support key initiatives at the barangay level.
“The allocation includes scholarship programs for students, livelihood opportunities for residents, and various community development projects tailored to local needs.
According to Gov. Tamayo, the provincial government is working closely with barangay officials to ensure that the funds will be used efficiently and transparently.
The announcement follows a recent visit by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to General Santos City, where he highlighted the National Government’s commitment to supporting barangays nationwide.
“The President emphasized that direct funding to barangays is part of a broader initiative to ensure inclusive growth and equitable distribution of resources across the country,” the governor said.
Local officials in South Cotabato have welcomed the initiative, citing its potential to address pressing concerns such as unemployment, access to education, and infrastructure gaps in remote areas.
However, authorities also acknowledged that procedural requirements must first be completed before the funds can be released.
The provincial government is currently coordinating with relevant national agencies to verify and process the necessary documentation to facilitate the download of funds.
Residents and stakeholders alike are optimistic that the funding will translate into tangible improvements in their communities. With a focus on education, livelihood, and development, the initiative is seen as a strategic investment in the long-term progress of South Cotabato’s barangays.
Further updates regarding the timeline of fund distribution and implementation guidelines are expected to be released once the verification process is completed.
