Dr. Marilyn S. Abantao, Chief of Hospital, confirmed that the extension building of SCPH is steadily progressing with a completion rate of 42.03 percent.
The project which started operation at the ground floor as an outpatient department earlier this year, is targeted to be finished by March 2026.
Of the total budget, ₱hp50 million is allotted for the second floor, which will serve as a ward to accommodate more patients, while ₱hp80 million is earmarked for the third floor that will house the operating room complex.
Meanwhile, the fourth floor is being prepared to serve as conference facilities.
“The expansion is funded by DOH and implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). Presently, installation of structural steel is ongoing,” Abantao said.
She added that once completed, the extension building will not only decongest the existing hospital facilities but also improve access to specialized care, enabling SCPH to serve more patients from South Cotabato and neighboring areas.
“This project is a big help to the community as it provides a wider range of medical services, particularly for patients needing surgical procedures and long-term treatment,” Abantao concluded.
