KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato — The Provincial Government of South Cotabato, led by Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr., expressed its profound gratitude to the Provincial Government of Bohol for extending ₱1.5 M in financial assistance to South Cotabateños affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck the province in June.
Atty. Renette Bergado, Provincial Administrator, said the assistance is a significant contribution to the province’s continuing recovery efforts and to the rebuilding of the lives and livelihoods of families severely affected by the disaster.
“We are deeply grateful to the Provincial Government of Bohol for this generous assistance. More than the financial support, we value the solidarity and compassion shown by the people of Bohol to our fellow South Cotabateños during this difficult time,” Atty Bergado said.
South Cotabato officials also expressed appreciation for the Bohol Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) for personally traveling to the province to deliver the assistance, demonstrating Bohol’s commitment to extending support beyond geographical boundaries during times of crisis.
“Their presence here is a meaningful expression of solidarity. It reminds our affected families that they are not alone in facing the challenges brought by the disaster. We sincerely thank Bohol for standing with South Cotabato as we continue to rebuild and recover,” she explained.
The ₱1.5-million donation was formally received by Atty. Bergado, Project Development Officer IV and Chief of Staff Emily Jalandoni; and Executive Assistant IV Hernanie Villanueva.
The provincial government emphasized that such acts of compassion, solidarity, and cooperation under the leadership of Governor Erico Aristotle C. Aumentado provided renewed strength and hope to communities as they recover from the effects of the earthquake.
“The assistance is a meaningful gesture of bayanihan that will help strengthen ongoing recovery efforts in earthquake-affected communities,” Atty. Bergado added.
