South Cotabato, Philippines—The much-anticipated book Strands of Her Dreams: The Story of Lang Dulay, the T’nalak Dream Weaver and GAMABA Awardee, was successfully launched on March 15, 2025, at SM Megamall, as part of the Philippine Book Festival. The book, which captures the inspiring life of Lang Dulay, is authored by her grandson, Delmo Dulay, alongside Lenly Gula, a writer and resident of Banga, South Cotabato. The illustrations were created by Danny Doce, Daniella Doce, and Roldan Mayon, while the editing was done by Dr. Rosalinda C. Tomas.
Tourism Operations Officer II, Indira N. Cagaanan, who was involved in the launch event, expressed the significance of the occasion, highlighting that the book’s release is part of the Philippine Book Festival. Cagaanan shared that it had always been the writers’ vision to have Lang Dulay’s story preserved in a book. She noted that it was a proud moment for everyone involved, as this long-awaited dream had now become a reality. Despite the many challenges faced by the writers and their team throughout the project, they were deeply grateful to all those who supported them in bringing this important narrative to life.
“Ang mga manunulat may ara na gid nga panan-aw nga ma-preserbar ang istorya ni Lang Dulay sa isa ka libro. Isa ini ka malipayong nga moment para sa tanan nga naga-apil, kay ang ini nga handum ginpaabot sang madugay nga panahon, subong natuman na. Bisan pa sa madamo nga mga hangkat nga naagyan sang mga manunulat kag ang ila team sa bug-os nga proyekto, mapasalamaton gid sila sa tanan nga nagasuporta sa ila sa paghatag sang kabuhi sa sini nga importante nga istorya,” Cagaanan stated.
“We are very happy and proud to be part of the Book Festival,” Cagaanan added. The book launch not only honored Lang Dulay’s legacy but also served as a tribute to the cultural importance of the T’nalak weaving tradition, inspiring future generations to continue the craft. The event drew attention to the importance of preserving indigenous stories and celebrating Filipino culture.
