Breastfeeding Mother Promotes Breastfeeding as practical and cost-effective choice

Koronadal City, South Cotabato, Philippines | August 15, 2025—In celebration of National Breastfeeding Awareness Month, Marissa Ayog, a resident of Sitio Ebenezer and a breastfeeding mother, is urging fellow mothers—especially first-time moms—to adopt breastfeeding not only for their child’s health, but also as a practical and cost-effective choice.

“Kailangan mo mag-breastfeeding ang bata para malusog siya kag malayo sa sakit,” Ayog emphasized, highlighting the many benefits of breastfeeding for infants. According to her, breast milk provides essential nutrients that strengthen a child’s immune system and protect against common illnesses.

Ayog also pointed out the economic advantage of breastfeeding. “Kun magpasuso ang nanay, makaiwas gid sa gasto,” she shared, stressing that breastfeeding can significantly reduce household expenses by eliminating the need for formula milk.

She encourages other mothers, particularly new ones, to follow her example and opt to breastfeed their babies. Aside from promoting better health for the child, she believes it helps mothers build a stronger bond with their infants.

As part of the ongoing celebration of National Breastfeeding Month, communities across the region are urged to recognize and support breastfeeding mothers, reaffirming the importance of maternal and child health in grassroots communities like Sitio Ebenezer.
