Campaign against drugs, irregularities intensified as new provincial jail warden assumed post

KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato -Newly appointed Provincial Jail Warden Barney P. Condes has vowed to tighten measures against illegal drugs and irregularities inside the South Cotabato Detention and Rehabilitation Center (SCDRC) as he officially assumed his post.

On his first day in office, Condes met with department heads and personnel, emphasizing the directive of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. to strictly uphold discipline and ensure order inside the facility. He said surveillance and monitoring will be intensified to prevent the entry of contraband and illegal substances.

“There are reports of illegal drugs inside the facility, and this must stop immediately,” Condes stressed.

Condes, who previously served as a battalion commander leading around 700 personnel, assured that his leadership will focus on strengthening policies while also providing a humane environment for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).

He reminded PDLs that compliance with jail policies will ensure smooth operations within the facility.

“It would be better for them to simply follow our legal and proper orders and the policies of this facility. I want this jail to be a healthy and friendly environment for both PDLs and personnel,” he said.
