Cash-for-work program in Barangay Denlag provides income support, boosts community preparedness

LAKE SEBU, SOUTH COTABATO— The Office of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (OPDRRMO) recently conducted an inspection and full implementation of its Cash-for-Work Program in Barangay Denlag, Lake Sebu, South Cotabato, delivering immediate livelihood assistance to residents while strengthening the barangay’s disaster resilience.

A key component of this Cash-for-Work program is the construction of a tire path pavement in the community.

Rolly Doane Aquino, PDRR Chief, said the project not only provides safer and more accessible pathways for residents but also engages beneficiaries directly in improving their own infrastructure.

“The initiative offers short-term employment to residents, allowing them to gain much-needed income through community service activities such as clearing operations, environmental upkeep, and minor improvements,” Aquino said.

“By participating in the construction work, community members earn income while contributing to a development project that will benefit them long-term,” Aquino stressed.

For many families, the program provides timely financial support that helps cover daily needs and ease economic challenges.

OPDRRMO emphasized that the Cash-for-Work Program empowers beneficiaries by giving them livelihood opportunities and involving them in initiatives that enhance preparedness and safety. Participants shared that the program not only sustains their households but also promotes teamwork and shared responsibility within the barangay.

This project is part of the Provincial Government’s ongoing efforts to improve access and safety in remote communities. With the support and leadership of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr., initiatives like this continue to strengthen mobility, uplift residents, and enhance overall resilience in South Cotabato.
