Koronadal City, South Cotabato, Philippines – January 7, 2026 | CATCH-UP initiative conducted its first water system survey last January 6, 2026 in Sitio Paraiso Barangay El Nonokin Banga and Purok 2, Barangay Polo in Polomolok, marking an important step toward improving access to safe and reliable water in communities with limited access to basic services
The survey team gathered on site data to understand existing water conditions, assess possible locations for water facilities and listen directly to residents about their daily water needs and challenges. This process allowed technical personnel to validate conditions on the ground while ensuring that community voices are central to project planning.
This initial activity ensures that future interventions are evidence based, responsive and aligned with actual community requirements. By starting with a detailed assessment the provincial government strengthens accountability and improves the likelihood that resources will deliver lasting benefits particularly in rural and geographically challenged areas.
Rolly Doane C Aquino of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer who also serves as CATCH UP and PTF ELCAC focal person emphasized that all field activities are anchored on the provincial government mandate to deliver services that genuinely respond to the needs of South Cotabateños. He underscored that the initiative reflects the directive of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. under the flagship governance agenda Tama at Maayos na Serbisyo saLahat which prioritizes inclusive development, efficient public service and community centered governance.
Residents expressed appreciation for the consultative approach noting that being heard at the planning stage builds trust and confidence in government programs. The provincial government in turn acknowledged the cooperation of community members whose participation is vital to the success of development initiatives.
Through CATCH UP the Provincial Government of South Cotabato continues to advance practical solutions that improve daily living conditions, strengthen local governance and promote equitable access to basic services starting with something as essential as clean and reliable water.
