F’lomolok Choristers Triumph in First-Ever KORO Choral Competition Celebrating Filipino Music

KORONADAL CITY, Philippines — August 6, 2025 — In a night filled with passion, harmony, and national pride, the F’lomolok Choristers were hailed as the grand champions of the inaugural KORO: Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino Choral Competition, held at the elegant and historic Metropolitan Theater in Manila.

The event, organized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), served as a monumental celebration of Filipino music, talent, and identity.

As part of the Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino festivities, the competition aimed to highlight the richness of our musical heritage through the powerful medium of choral singing. With their emotionally charged and technically refined performance, the F’lomolok Choristers impressed both the panel of esteemed judges and a captivated audience. Their artistry, vocal precision, and stage presence solidified their place at the top.

Meanwhile, the Adamson University Chorale earned the title of 1st Runner-Up with a soulful and compelling performance, while the Colegio de San Agustin – Bacolod Kalinaw Chorale claimed 2nd Runner-Up through their stunning harmonies and cultural depth.

The finalists also included standout groups such as the Emilio Aguinaldo College Chorale, Bicol Voices Chorale, Bicol University Chorale, Panag-uyon Adelante Singers, and the University of Mindanao Digos Chorale—each bringing their own flair, discipline, and creativity to the prestigious stage.

The competition featured a wide range of original compositions and traditional Filipino songs, showcasing the immense vocal talent, musical interpretation, and cultural storytelling of choirs from across the country.

According to the NCCA, the overwhelming success of the competition affirms its goal of turning KORO into an annual national platform for promoting excellence in Filipino choral artistry and inspiring the next generation of Filipino musicians.

This milestone event not only gave honor to Filipino music—it ignited a renewed appreciation for our identity, our artistry, and the collective voice that binds us as one people.
