Free hospitalization program leads to expanded dialysis, peritoneal services for South Cotabato patients

South Cotabato, Philippines —  The Provincial Government of South Cotabato continues to strengthen its healthcare system as the free hospitalization program under the administration of Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. has paved the way for expanded dialysis and peritoneal dialysis services for patients in the province.

Dr. Marilyn Abantao, Chief of Hospital II of the South Cotabato Provincial Hospital, confirmed that the province’s flagship free hospitalization initiative has significantly improved access to critical medical services, particularly for patients suffering from kidney disease.

Speaking during the RST in Action radio program, Abantao said hospital services have been made free for patients while the provincial government has been able to strengthen and sustain programs that provide dialysis and peritoneal dialysis treatment.

She explained that these life-saving procedures, which are usually expensive and often difficult for many families to afford, are now more accessible to residents of South Cotabato due to the provincial government’s strong support for public healthcare.

“Through the free hospitalization program, patients who require continuous dialysis treatment are able to receive care without the heavy financial burden that usually comes with long-term medical procedures,” Abantao said.

The initiative forms part of the Tamayo administration’s broader strategy to prioritize health services and ensure that residents, especially those with chronic illnesses, receive adequate medical care within the province.

With strengthened hospital services and expanded dialysis programs, more patients in South Cotabato are now able to access quality healthcare, reflecting the provincial government’s continuing commitment to deliver compassionate and responsive public service to its constituents.
