As we, the Provincial Information Office staff bade farewell with nostalgia to our 8-page The Informant Newsletter whose last published edition was December 2015, the emotion will only be short-lived as we are going to produce a more informative 20-page The Informant Magazine starting this January 2016.
Timely, indeed, as we are celebrating the 50th birth anniversary of our beloved province on July 18 this year. The golden memories of South Cotabato will be read through this magazine as she traversed the long and arduous path in public governance starting in the industrial age in the late ‘60s up to the present millennia dubbed as Information Age.
From the “pre” and martial law eras under the administration of Governor Sergio Morales, to the post-martial law era under Governors Ismael Sueno, Hilario de Pedro III, Daisy Avance Fuentes, Arthur Pingoy Jr. and now back to Daisy Avance Fuentes; untold, inspiring stories may be unearth from employees willing to share their memories of full of challenges and successes as well.
The magazine likewise will capture stories beyond the basics of simple news reporting since we will write it in the form of feature news, which is more descriptive than the usual style we employ in our newsletter. The transformation is a challenge but we are up to it because as information officers we are here to write and inform our readers the positive stories happening in our province.
But before I end this story, do our readers know when The Informant Newsletter was first published? My special thanks to the Provincial Library especially to Jesusa Erecilla, their Bookbinder/Archivist. She showed me a copy of the maiden edition of The Informant published on December 1994. And to my surprise it was a magazine!
Truly nostalgic indeed. From magazine to tabloid and now, back to magazine after 21 years.
