Gov. Tamayo: ‘A Public Office is a Public Trust’

KORONADAL CITY – Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., National President of the League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP), reiterated the fundamental principle that “a public office is a public trust” as he called on public officials to safeguard government funds and ensure these are used solely for the benefit of the people.

In his official statement, Governor Tamayo emphasized that all elected and appointed officials have a solemn duty to protect and uphold the interest and welfare of the people by promoting transparency, accountability, and integrity in public service.

“We took an oath to be the guardians of government funds. It is our obligation to make sure these resources are used properly, responsibly, and effectively for the greater good,” Tamayo said.

He raised concern over reports and findings of irregularities in the implementation of government-funded infrastructure projects, particularly flood control programs, warning that unchecked anomalies could burden future generations.

Tamayo stressed that the misuse of funds intended for development programs is a betrayal to every Filipino, especially those in the countryside who depend on government initiatives to uplift their lives.

“We expect nothing less than definitive findings on the culpability of all parties involved so that they may be brought to justice, regardless of their political and socio-economic standing,” he added.

Governor Tamayo concluded by affirming that local governments remain committed to serving their constituents and that the principle of “a public office is a public trust” must continue to guide every action and decision of those in government.
