South Cotabato, Philippines – South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. expressed his unwavering support for the upcoming National Teachers’ Month celebration, with the province set to proudly host the Mindanao Cluster Convention.

“We are honored to welcome educators from across Mindanao to our province. Preparations are well underway to ensure the success of this significant gathering,” the governor said during a press conference recently.

“May Mindanao Convention na gagawin dito sa ating Lalawigan  buong Mindanao pupunta dito kaya’t pinag usapan naming ang different preparations.” Gov. Tamayo stressed.

The event is being organized in collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd) Regional Office XII, under the leadership of Regional Director Carlito D. Rocafort. Division heads and key officials from various provinces across Mindanao are actively coordinating the details of the convention, which aims to recognize and empower teachers while advancing the region’s educational goals.

In a closed-door meeting with DepEd officials, Gov. Tamayo highlighted the province’s key milestone in education—universal access through the implementation of a free education program.

“We’ve already solved the issue of access,” he said. “Our next goal must be to raise the standard of education. Everyone is now able to enter the system—what we must do is improve the quality of learning.”

He emphasized the vital role of teachers in nation-building and reiterated his administration’s strong commitment to education reforms that go beyond access, focusing on excellence and innovation in teaching and learning.

The Mindanao Cluster Convention is expected to be a landmark event, serving as a platform for professional collaboration, sharing of best practices, and honoring the enduring contributions of educators throughout the region.

Gov. Tamayo’s leadership reinforces South Cotabato’s position as a committed partner in promoting inclusive and quality education for all.
