Gov. Tamayo calls for discipline, proper training to ensure road safety

KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato — Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. renewed his call for responsible driving, emphasizing the critical role of discipline and proper training in ensuring road safety, following his participation in a specialized motorcycle riding course.

During his recent completion of the Executive Motorcycle Riding Course (EMCRC), the governor said the training enhanced his understanding of the skills, discipline, and alertness needed to navigate the roads safely—especially for motorcycle riders, who remain among the most vulnerable road users.

He described the experience as both physically demanding and highly rewarding.

“Mainit, nakakapagod, at kailangan ng matinding focus — but every minute was worth it for road safety,” the governor said.

Tamayo stressed that responsible driving goes beyond basic knowledge of traffic rules, highlighting the importance of continuous learning, the right mindset, and respect for fellow motorists.

“Ang pagsunod sa batas-trapiko at pagiging maingat sa kalsada ay hindi lamang para sa ating sarili, kundi para sa kaligtasan ng bawat isa,” he added.

He also called on motorists, especially motorcycle riders, to take road safety seriously and to invest in proper training and protective measures to prevent accidents and save lives.

“Sama-sama nating isulong ang responsableng pagmamaneho — para sa bawat pamilyang umaasa sa ating ligtas na pag-uwi,” he said.

The governor’s message aligns with the provincial government’s ongoing efforts to promote people-centered governance by prioritizing public safety and community well-being. His hands-on participation in the training sets an example for constituents and reinforces the importance of accountability both on and off the road.

Authorities continue to remind the public that road safety is a shared responsibility, requiring cooperation among drivers, pedestrians, and law enforcement to create safer roads for everyone.
