South Cotabato, Philippines | January 5, 2026 – As South Cotabato officially opens the year 2026, Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. renewed his call for integrity, purpose, and collective responsibility among public servants, emphasizing that service to the people remains the heart of governance.
During his message, Governor Tamayo reminded provincial employees that while many individuals may be qualified for government positions, each one was chosen for a reason.
“May mas marami pang qualified sa posisyon na hawak ninyo ngayon, pero kayo ang napili at dinisenyo para maglingkod,” he said, underscoring the trust placed in every public servant.
The Governor stressed that public service must always be guided by integrity and sincerity.
“Ang purpose kung bakit tayo nandito ay para magbigay ng tama at maayos na serbisyo,” he emphasized.
He encouraged employees to be active partners in delivering quality services to the people, noting that integrity should always define how government programs are implemented.
Looking ahead, Governor Tamayo expressed optimism for 2026, describing it as a year of continuity, improvement, and renewed commitment.
He highlighted plans to enhance and redevelop services, with particular focus on health care.
He welcomed the arrival of additional PhilHealth funds before the end of 2025, which will support the implementation of the Universal Health Care Program, including the Konsulta package.
To further strengthen health services at the grassroots level, Governor Tamayo appealed to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan to reconsider the reduced funding for Provincial Health Navigators.
He explained that these navigators play a crucial role in addressing the shortage of Barangay Health Workers and in monitoring households under the province’s 1-to-20 household monitoring system.
“As we move toward full implementation, monitoring is essential,” the Governor said, reiterating that strong systems and dedicated people are key to ensuring that services truly reach every family in South Cotabato.
