South Cotabato, Philippines — The Provincial Government of South Cotabato honored the newest achievers of the Kabugwason Paglaum Scholarship and Grant-in-Aid Program, recognizing 24 scholars who passed various national licensure examinations—an affirmation of the province’s sustained investment in education under Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr.
The latest batch of passers includes five new lawyers, 12 Licensed Professional Teachers, three registered nurses, three licensed psychologists and psychometricians, and one certified public accountant—bringing pride to South Cotabato and highlighting the program’s role in shaping future professionals.
Among the honorees, Bar passer Maria Fatima G. Basan credited the scholarship as pivotal to her journey. She said the monthly stipend and semestral tuition support enabled her to pursue law school despite financial constraints.
“With limited family income and the high cost of legal education, the Kabugwason Paglaum Scholarship made it possible for me to continue and finish my studies,” Basan shared, expressing gratitude to Governor Tamayo for backing the aspirations of scholars across the province.
Another Bar passer, Ayla Lea C. Tianchon, echoed the program’s impact, noting that the assistance extended beyond schooling to her review period and beyond. She thanked the Kabugwason staff and Governor Tamayo, whom she described as a key pillar of the initiative.
Tianchon also encouraged future scholars to meet challenges with resilience. “Be stoic—endure life’s struggles without complaint. Through perseverance, you can achieve your dreams,” she said.
The Kabugwason Paglaum Scholarship and Grant-in-Aid Program continues to stand as a beacon of hope for deserving students, reaffirming the provincial government’s commitment to human capital development and to empowering professionals who will serve both the province and the nation.
