Gov.Tamayo encourages tourists to explore South Cotabato amid global fuel crisis

South Cotabato – While rising fuel prices worldwide may influence travel plans and tourist arrivals, South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. encouraged visitors to set aside everyday stresses caused by the crisis and instead relax while exploring the province’s diverse destinations.

Huwag masyadong magpaka-stress, mamasyal kayo. Puntahan nyo ang magagandang lugar dito sa South Cotabato,” he said.

Tourism remains one of the province’s key economic drivers, providing livelihood opportunities for many residents and small businesses. Governor Tamayo emphasized that travelers should not let global economic concerns prevent them from enjoying the beauty and culture that South Cotabato has to offer.

South Cotabato has so many places worth visiting, Tamayo said, adding that tourists can find both adventure and relaxation across the province’s mountains, lakes, and cultural sites.

Among the most popular attractions is Lake Sebu, a serene destination known for its stunning waterfalls, zipline adventures, and the vibrant culture of the T’boli indigenous community. The area continues to attract visitors seeking nature-based tourism experiences and cultural immersion.

Koronadal City, the provincial capital, also serves as a gateway for travelers exploring nearby destinations, offering a mix of urban convenience, local cuisine, and cultural heritage.

Despite concerns about rising fuel costs, Tamayo expressed optimism that tourism in South Cotabato will remain resilient. He noted that many residents are already continuing their daily activities and supporting local tourism initiatives, which could help sustain visitor arrivals in the province.

Local tourism stakeholders have welcomed the governor’s call, noting that continued promotion of South Cotabato’s attractions will help sustain tourism-related businesses, including resorts, restaurants, tour services, and handicraft markets.
