KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato, Philippines | April 6, 2026 — Governor Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. underscored patriotism as a core value of governance, calling for unity and shared responsibility among public servants and citizens.
Gov. Tamayo echoed the message, linking patriotism to good governance.
“If there is patriotism in our hearts, we will be united for a common goal. Government is our own house—we must fix it, not destroy it,” the governor said.
He urged leaders to focus on improving systems rather than blaming others, emphasizing responsibility over rhetoric.
“Do your part. Clean your house. That is patriotism,” Tamayo added.

During a flag ceremony Monday, Senior Police Master Sergent Jeff T. C. Berto defined patriotism through sacrifice, integrity, and love. He said public service often requires risking time, safety, and comfort to serve others.
“Patriotism is not only in words, but in action. When sacrifice, integrity, and love come together, trust and unity follow,” Berto said.
He stressed that integrity builds trust and that serving the public must always come with honesty and accountability. He added that love for country and fellow citizens should guide every action in service.
The provincial government continues to promote patriotism and 11 other core values — Godliness, Friendliness, Perseverance, Honesty, Diligence, Unity, Openness, Integrity, Equity, Commitment, and Excellence— as guiding values in building accountable leadership and stronger communities in South Cotabato.
