KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato — Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. was named Outstanding Governor during the Gawad Parangal of the Association of Local Social Welfare and Development Officers of the Philippines Inc. (ALWSDOPI) National Convention held at KCC Mall Convention Center in Zamboanga City.
The award recognized Tamayo’s leadership and the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer, through Sonia L. Bautista, as the lead department in improving social services and delivering inclusive, people-centered programs in South Cotabato.
ALWSDOPI cited the province’s strengthened welfare programs, especially those benefiting vulnerable sectors. Among these are the “Hospital without Cashier” program, which provides free hospitalization in provincial hospitals, and the “No Student Left Behind” program, which ensures free education from elementary to college.
Since taking office in 2019, Tamayo has pushed reforms that improved access to healthcare, education, and social services across the province.
He also holds key national positions, including President of the League of Provinces of the Philippines and Chairman of the Union of Local Authorities of the Philippines, contributing to policy development and local governance nationwide.
He also serves as a Board Director of the Mindanao Development Authority, Vice Chairperson for the Government Sector of the National Anti-Poverty Commission, and Chairperson of the Regional Peace and Order Council 12, reflecting his broader commitment to national development, peacebuilding, and poverty reduction.
Anchored on his governance agenda of “Tama at Maayos na Serbisyo,” the governor continues to prioritize accessible services, inclusive growth, and support for underserved communities.
