POLOMOLOK, South Cotabato — The Polomolok Municipal Hospital (PMH) Hemodialysis Unit has secured its license to operate from the Department of Health Region 12 on February 24, 2026, officially making the facility operational and ready to serve patients in Polomolok and nearby areas.
With the approval, the unit will provide free dialysis treatment under the province’s free hospitalization program, easing the financial burden on patients who previously had to travel to Norala or Koronadal City or shoulder high medical costs.
The PMH Hemodialysis Unit is equipped with 10 dialysis machines and designed to operate up to three shifts daily.
Operations will initially run on one shift as personnel adjust to the workflow, with gradual expansion to full capacity to ensure patient safety and quality care.
Dr. Conrado M. Brana Jr., PMH chief, said the licensing allows patients to receive dialysis locally, significantly reducing travel time and related expenses while improving access to life-sustaining treatment.
“The licensing of this unit allows the hospital to provide dialysis services locally, reducing the need for patients to travel to other centers in Norala or Koronadal City. This improves access to care and minimizes the financial and logistical burden on patients and their families.” Brana said,
The facility forms part of South Cotabato’s broader healthcare expansion program, which aims to strengthen medical infrastructure and institutionalize free hospitalization in public hospitals under the administration of Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr..
With the opening of the Polomolok unit, South Cotabato now has three government-operated dialysis centers, located in Polomolok, Norala, and Koronadal City. The expansion is expected to decongest existing facilities, improve scheduling, and ensure consistent dialysis services for patients across the province.
