KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato — South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. has reaffirmed his commitment to delivering quality public service after ranking among the country’s top-performing and most trusted provincial governors in the latest nationwide governance survey conducted by RPMD Foundation Inc.
Based on the First Quarter 2026 “Boses ng Bayan” Index of Governance (IOG) conducted by RPMD Foundation Inc., Governor Tamayo ranked third among the country’s 82 provincial governors, earning an 83.56% Index of Governance score, with an 83.42% trust rating and an 83.70% performance rating.
The recognition reflects the continued confidence of South Cotabateños in the provincial government’s commitment to transparent, responsive, and results-oriented governance.
Expressing his gratitude, Governor Tamayo dedicated the recognition to the people of South Cotabato, saying the achievement inspires the provincial government to further improve public service delivery.
“Dagdag inspirasyon para mas lalo pa nating pagbutihin ang pagpapaabot ng tama at maayos na serbisyo sa ating mga kababayan,” Tamayo said.
He added that the recognition is not only a personal achievement but also a testament to the collective efforts of provincial government employees, partner agencies, local government units, and the people of South Cotabato who continue to support programs that promote inclusive growth and good governance.
According to RPMD Executive Director and Global Affairs and Political Analyst Dr. Paul Martinez, the survey findings demonstrate that public trust is built through governance that is visible, accountable, responsive, transparent, and measurable.
“The findings demonstrate that public trust is earned and sustained through visible, responsive, transparent, and measurable provincial governance,” Martinez said.
The Index of Governance evaluated provincial leaders across key governance indicators, including leadership effectiveness, fiscal management, social service delivery, public safety, infrastructure development, disaster preparedness and response, environmental management, transparency, citizen engagement, innovation, and responsiveness to constituents.
The independent, non-commissioned survey was conducted in April 2026 among 5,000 randomly selected registered voters nationwide. It measured public trust and citizens’ assessment of the performance of provincial officials using standardized governance indicators.
Governor Tamayo said the recognition also serves as a reminder of the responsibility entrusted to public officials to continuously improve government services and uphold the people’s trust.
“As public servants, this recognition reminds us that there is still more work to be done. We will continue to strive for excellence and ensure that every South Cotabateño benefits from honest, efficient, and compassionate governance,” he said.
The latest recognition further highlights South Cotabato’s efforts to promote people-centered governance through programs on accessible healthcare, quality education, agricultural development, infrastructure, environmental protection, disaster resilience, and transparent governance under the guiding principle of “Tama kag Maayo nga Serbisyo.”
