Koronadal City, South Cotabato, Philippines | September 2, 2025 – Governor Reynaldo Tamayo, Jr. has assured South Cotabateños that the provincial government is undertaking massive expansion projects to address the congestion at the South Cotabato Provincial Hospital and improve healthcare services across the province.
According to Gov. Tamayo, several funding sources have already been secured to support the expansion.
“For our Out-Patient Department, we are already working on ₱50 million, with another ₱80 million in the pipeline,” the governor said.
Representative Ferdinand Hernandez also committed ₱100 million for 2026, and another ₱100 million coming from Melco, the governor stressed.
In addition to these funds, the province has earmarked ₱240 million from its loan facility to further expand hospital services.
Gov. Tamayo emphasized that these investments aim to decongest the main provincial hospital, which has long been struggling with overcrowding.
“The expansion will accommodate us up to 600 patients from the 200-bed capacity,” the governor said during last Monday’s Governor Meets the Press.
He added that part of the strategy includes improving other facilities such as the Tantanganand Koronadal infirmary hospitals, which has been allocated ₱50 million, to help absorb patients and ease the load at the main hospital.
“For now, I really need your patience in entertaining our clients, as we continue to put these systems in place,” Gov. Tamayo appealed.
The hospital expansion program is part of the provincial government’s broader effort to improve public healthcare facilities and ensure quality service delivery to the people of South Cotabato.
