Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. wants to ensure that the free hospitalization program will be sustained through the full implementation of the Universal Health Care (UHC) or the Kalulusugan Pangkalahatan” which aims to provide quality health services for all.
In an interview, Governor Tamayo said he wants to implement the UHC program early.
He targets that instead of the full implementation in the year 2026-2028, under his administration he wants to implement it fully by the year 2024.
One of the strategies for the implementation of the UHC is to mobilize more of the Barangay Health Workers to cope with the ratio of One (1) BHW in every 20 households.
“Ito ay para matutukan ang kalusugan ng bawat isa at hindi na humantong pa sa pagpa ospital.” Governor Tamayo said,
He added that by doing so it could incur lesser hospital expenses for the government.
However, if the people will be hospitalized, the government will see to it that each can get quality health care.
He also wants to establish a strong partnership with the private sector to strengthen the hospital referral system.
Under the UHC, it is aimed that all services are “accessible, efficient, equitably distributed, adequately funded, fairly financed, and appropriately used by an informed and empowered public”.
To ensure that all people can access quality health care services, there should be enough resources such as health human resources, health facilities, and health financing.
To date, the provincial government has started to strengthen its health care services by providing free hospital transport services, and free dialysis among others.
