KORONADAL CITY — The Provincial Government of South Cotabato, under the leadership of Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., continues to bring healthcare services closer to communities through the Family Health Navigator Program, a flagship initiative designed to strengthen grassroots health monitoring and preventive care.
One of the program’s active beneficiaries and frontliners is Michelle Ann M. Cael, a Family Health Navigator from Barangay Avanceña, Koronadal City, under the Office of the Provincial Governor – Barangay Affairs Unit.
Cael has been serving as a Family Health Navigator since 2023 and was later elected as President of the Navigators in their barangay after the local elections, reflecting the trust and confidence of her fellow volunteers and the community.
Under the program initiated by Gov. Tamayo, each Family Health Navigator is assigned to monitor at least 24 households per purok, conducting regular home visits to gather essential health information.
These data are carefully recorded and submitted to the Barangay Health Worker (BHW), who then reports to the Barangay Midwife for proper evaluation and intervention.
This structured reporting system ensures early detection of health concerns, timely referrals, and coordinated responses at the barangay level, strengthening the overall delivery of primary healthcare services.
Cael expressed her gratitude for being part of Gov. Tamayo’s health initiative, noting that the program has allowed her to both serve her community and grow personally.
“I learned so much as a Navigator through the seminars and trainings,” she said, emphasizing how continuous capacity-building activities have equipped them to perform their roles more effectively.
The Provincial Family Health Navigator Program is a vital component of Governor Tamayo’s broader health agenda, which prioritizes preventive care, community empowerment, and accessible health services for all South Cotabateños.
Through committed frontliners like Michelle Ann M. Cael, the provincial government continues to turn Gov. Tamayo’s vision of people-centered and inclusive healthcare into reality, one household at a time.
