South Cotabato, Philippines-Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. has assured residents that the Provincial Government of South Cotabato will continue helping communities severely affected by the recent earthquake, emphasizing that recovery efforts will remain a priority until affected families have fully regained stability and normalcy.
“Hanggat hindi pa sila naka recover ng maayos, tuloy-tuloy ang assistance na binibigay ng Provincial Government. Hindi ko gusto na after 3 t0 4 days iiwan na natin yung mga kababayan natin na dumaranas ng psychological effect dahil sa hagupit ng lindol”. Tamayo said
Governor Tamayo expressed concern for fellow citizens who remain traumatized by the event, noting that many residents are still coping with fear and anxiety three to four days after the earthquake.
He emphasized that the provincial government understands the challenges faced by affected communities and will continue extending necessary assistance and support services.
As of the latest assessment, the Municipality of Tupi has officially declared a State of Calamity due to the damage and disruption caused by the earthquake.
Provincial officials continue to coordinate with municipal governments, disaster response teams, and concerned agencies to ensure that assistance reaches affected residents as quickly as possible.
Relief operations, damage assessments, and monitoring activities are ongoing in areas impacted by the earthquake.
He revealed that the Province of South Cotabato’s calamity fund remains intact this year, as it has not yet been utilized for previous disasters.
“Nasa kalahating taon na tayo pero di pa natin na gagalaw ang ating calamity fund, kaya darating man ang panahon na kakailanganin natin ito hindi tayo magkakaron ng problema”. Tamayo added
Authorities are encouraging residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with disaster management personnel as recovery efforts proceed.
He assured residents that the provincial government will remain responsive to their needs and will continue delivering assistance until every affected family receives the support necessary to rebuild their lives.
