Governor Reynaldo Tamayo highlights South Cotabato’s best practices at regional ELCAC meeting

Koronadal City, South Cotabato – South Cotabato Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. recently attended the Regional Joint Meeting on Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC), where he shared the province’s best practices in promoting peace and order, highlighting these as essential factors for fostering potential investments in the province.

During the meeting, Governor Tamayo underscored the critical role that peace and order play in ensuring a conducive environment for business and economic development.

“In South Cotabato, we believe that maintaining peace and stability is key to attracting investments. This is something we prioritize to ensure that our economy continues to grow and our people thrive,” Tamayo said.

One of the successful strategies the governor shared was the delivery of basic services to far-flung communities, a key approach in addressing the root causes of insurgency.

“We have made it a priority to bring government services to even the most remote areas of the province. When people see that the government is present and responsive, it becomes a deterrent to insurgency,” he explained.

Governor Tamayo also emphasized the importance of aligning programs across all levels of government. He credited the synergy between the national, provincial, municipal, and barangay levels in implementing ELCAC initiatives as crucial to achieving long-term peace.

“The alignment of programs from the national level down to the local government units is vital. It ensures that all efforts are cohesive, leading to better results in maintaining peace,” the governor pointed out.

As a firm believer in unity, Governor Tamayo highlighted the collective effort among government agencies, communities, and other stakeholders in building a stronger local economy.

“Unity is the key to achieving a stronger economy. If we work together and share the same vision for peace and development, we can create a sustainable environment for progress,” he said.

The governor’s presentation at the meeting was well-received, with many participants noting the significant strides South Cotabato has made in its fight against insurgency and the promotion of peace and development.

Governor Tamayo’s commitment to the ELCAC program reaffirms South Cotabato’s leadership role in fostering lasting peace and prosperity in the region.
