Governor Tamayo assures 100% free rehabilitation as Balay Silangan admits 11th batch of clients

KORONADAL CITY — Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. reaffirmed the Provincial Government of South Cotabato’s commitment to restorative justice as the South Cotabato Balay Silangan Reformatory Center (SCBSRC) formally welcomed its 11th batch of clients during an Acceptance Ceremony last week.

A total of fifteen (15) male clients, who availed of plea bargain agreements, were officially admitted into the three-month reformatory program.

The program provides 100 percent free rehabilitation, covering education, skills and livelihood training, health awareness, psychological and spiritual interventions, physical development, as well as moral recovery and values aimed at preparing clients for meaningful reintegration into society.

Sonia Bautista, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer, started the event with remarks that fostered encouragement and support, highlighting the provincial government’s dedication to providing second chances and meaningful opportunities for change.

Messages of support were delivered by partner agencies, including Mr. John Rey Manalo, LPT, of the Provincial Parole and Probation Office, and Investigator-on-Case Brenda Pollisco of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region XII.

Both emphasized the importance of discipline, accountability, and personal commitment in achieving successful rehabilitation.

Eleanor Joselle Geonigo, RSW, presented an overview of Balay Silangan’s programs and services, orienting the new clients on the comprehensive support systems in place to guide them throughout their recovery journey.

The ceremony ended with closing remarks from Earl Madres, Community Affairs Officer, who encouraged clients to embrace their transformation journey and assured them of the center’s steadfast support throughout rehabilitation.

Through the Balay Silangan program, the Provincial Government of South Cotabato continues to advance its advocacy for restorative justice—promoting hope, healing, and genuine second chances for individuals seeking a better and more productive future.
