South Cotabato, Philippines — While South Cotabato continues to face challenges in various areas of development, Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. acknowledges the progress made over the years under his governance and service.
During the Governor Meets the Press, Governor Tamayo reiterated the accomplishments of South Cotabato, including the implementation of free education, which ensures that students no longer have to worry about financial constraints as they can avail full scholarships.
“May ara kita sang business partners nga nag allocate sang scholarship,” he shared. “Ang tanan nga mga close nga business owner sang family, gin pangayuan ta sang scholarship para totally it’s a free education sang aton mga kabataan.”
Another accomplishment that has had a significant impact on the province is the free hospitalization program, along with the expansion of hospitals to accommodate more patients, regardless of their financial capacity.
“Need sang Koronadal ang sufficient nga hospital,” Governor Tamayo emphasized. “Kung striktohan sang provincial hospital nga mag accept lang sang level 2 patients, hindi mag survive ang Koronadal.”
In addition, the drainage system in Koronadal City has seen evident improvements. In the past years, residents struggled with severe flash floods due to poor drainage. However, with the recent developments, flooding issues have been reduced.
“Ang halin diri sa roundball pasaka, mabantayan ninyo maskin ano kakusog sang ulan, naga drain gid dason ang tubig,” Governor Tamayo noted. “Unlike before nga maabtan pa isa ka semana tsaka maghupa ang baha sa roundball.”
Beyond these progress, South Cotabato has also made improvements in farm-to-market roads, additional school buildings, employment opportunities, and deployment of supplemental auxiliary police, which greatly contribute to the province’s continuous growth.
Governor Tamayo credits these accomplishments to effective prioritization of government projects, which ensures that urgent needs are addressed first before less urgent projects.
“Ang pondo sang gobyerno, dapat gamiton ina according sang urgent need kag benefit sa tibuok community, hindi lang sa pipila ka tao,” he emphasized. “Dapat kabalo kita mag prioritize sang projects in accordance sang need sang katawhan.”
As South Cotabato continues its journey toward growth and development, the province remains committed to holistic development that benefits the people of South Cotabato.
