Koronadal City, South Cotabato —- The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) conducted a Drug Abuse Prevention Education (DAPE) session for Batch 11 clients of the South Cotabato Balay Silangan Reformatory Center (SCBSRC), further strengthening the province’s commitment to rehabilitation and holistic recovery.

Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr. reiterated the Provincial Government of South Cotabato’s unwavering support for all SCBSRC clients, assuring them that they are well cared for throughout their rehabilitation journey.
He emphasized that the province remains committed to providing continuous assistance, including counseling services, skills training, livelihood opportunities, and aftercare support to help clients successfully reintegrate into society.
“The provincial government believes that recovery is possible when individuals are given proper guidance, support, and opportunities for change,” Governor Tamayo said.
He emphasized that, “We will continue to ensure that our clients receive the care and assistance they need to rebuild their lives and become productive members of the community.”
The lecture was led by Mr. Helson Jover of PDEA, who provided an in-depth discussion on drug awareness and prevention, emphasizing the harmful physical, psychological, and social effects of illegal drugs on individuals, families, and the wider community.
The session aimed to equip the clients with accurate information and practical knowledge to help them avoid substance abuse and make informed life choices.
Beyond drug awareness, the activity focused on personal transformation and recovery.
Clients were encouraged to reflect on their life goals, rediscover their personal dreams, and strengthen their intrinsic motivation as essential foundations for long-term behavioral change.
The lecture underscored the importance of self-discipline, responsibility, and commitment to a drug-free lifestyle.
The program forms part of the Balay Silangan rehabilitation framework, which prioritizes education, values formation, and psychosocial support as key components of recovery.
Through partnerships with national agencies such as PDEA, the provincial government continues to enhance the quality and effectiveness of its reformation initiatives.
The activity reflects the shared commitment of the provincial government and partner agencies to promote a drug-free South Cotabato, anchored on compassion, rehabilitation, and sustainable recovery.
