Governor Tamayo upholds validation process for health navigators’ honorariums

KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato — Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. defended the provincial government’s policy of validating Provincial Family Health Navigators (PFHN) before releasing their honorariums, emphasizing that the process ensures accountability and prevents issues in the implementation of the program.

Governor Tamayo explained that each health navigator is responsible for 20 families and must first complete and submit all required reports before receiving their compensation.

“In every navigator, mayroon kang 20 families under sa’yo at once na ma-submit mo yung mga niririquire sa 20 families, that’s the time na bibigyan ka ng honorarium,” he said.

At present, the provincial government validated almost 8, 000 family health navigators.

He emphasized that honorariums are not automatically given but are based on compliance with program requirements.

He further clarified that validation is necessary to confirm the legitimacy of individuals claiming to be part of the program. According to him, genuine navigators should be able to identify the families they are handling. Those who cannot provide the required information may not be officially recognized.

“O kung sino yung nagrereklamo, tanungin mo sino ang family members mo as a navigator, kung wala siyang masagot hindi siya navigator,” Tamayo added.

The governor also said that all submitted family lists are subject for verification to ensure accuracy. This process, he explained, protects the integrity of the program and prevents misuse of government funds.

“Pag sinabi niyang si ganito, si ganyan ipa-validate natin ‘yan,” he said, stressing the importance of cross-checking data.

The governor also clarified that the PFHN program functions similarly to Barangay Health Workers but operates under the provincial government, with a structured system for monitoring and reporting.

The provincial government continues to strengthen its community health initiatives through the PFHN program, ensuring that only qualified and compliant navigators receive honorariums after proper validation.
