Governor Tamayo warns public against surge of fake accounts using his name

South Cotabato, Philippines – Residents are urged to stay vigilant following reports of fake social media accounts impersonating Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr., and other prominent public figures. Authorities warned these accounts may spread misinformation and scams.

Governor Tamayo issued the warning after a new Facebook account using his name and photo, appearing as an official page

“Dapat maging mapagmatyag ang publiko at tingnan kung fake accounts, kinakailangan e verify ang mga impormasyon tulad ng birthday, email at iba pa. Dapat ibayong pag iingat sa mga kumakalat na fake accounts sa social media.”  Tamayo said.

According to the governor, there were reports of individuals using his name to request supplies from local businesses or to place orders previously.

Governor Tamayo clarified that he does not personally handle transactions.

“Kung may mga official transactions, nag papadala ako ng mga authorized personnels. Hindi din ako tumatawag ng personal sa mga establishment para mag transaction”. He explained, urging business owners to be cautious when receiving unusual requests.

The governor encouraged the public to check official government pages, place requests through proper channels and report suspicious accounts immediately.

He recommended to avoid sharing personal information or engaging with unverified profiles.

Governor Tamayo reiterated that public awareness remains the strongest defense against schemes.

“We must all work together to prevent these fraudulent activities. If something seems unusual, take a moment to verify before acting,” he said.

Authorities continue to monitor fake accounts and remove it.
