KORONADAL CITY — Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. welcomed legislative efforts to convert South Cotabato State College (SCSC) into a full university, calling the move a major milestone in expanding access to quality, inclusive education for the province’s youth.
According to Governor Tamayo, this conversion will greatly benefit students by increasing the institution’s budget and broadening the range of academic programs available.
He stressed that with free education now covering both public and private schools, financial barriers should no longer prevent South Cotabateños from pursuing education.
Governor Tamayo also expressed his appreciation to Congressman Ferdinand Hernandez for sponsoring the bill, which the House committee has already approved. He also welcomed the support of Senator Loren Legarda, who committed to filing a counterpart bill in the Senate and prioritizing it.
Once approved, converting SCSC into a university will lead to the introduction of more academic programs, improved learning facilities, and increased opportunities for higher education, ultimately strengthening human resource development in South Cotabato.
